Detailed Design of Viaduct for Chennai Metro Rail Project, Chennai, India

The first phase of Chennai Metro Rail Project consists of two corridors. Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has floated tenders for ECV02 & ECV03 Contracts on the basis of “Design and Construction” for Elevated Viaducts. The contract ECV03 falls in corridor-1 starts from Ch: 13840m to Ch: 18410m includes viaduct portion in stations buildings and 600m of viaduct in corridor-2 between Ch: 19528m to 20178m at Alandur station totalling a length of 5.17 km. Four station buildings namely Little Mount,  Guindy, Alandur and Officers’ Training Academy are under contract ECV03. Contract ECV02 falls under corridor 2, starting from Ch: 15738m to Ch: 20900m including viaducts at Ashok Nagar and SIDCO Station is totalling a length of 4.56 km. In corridor-2 M/s. L&T Infra Engineering is the Detailed Design Consultant to EPC contractor for both ECV02 and ECV03 contracts.

The scope of work involves detailed design for the viaduct which includes the substructure and superstructure.

The two corridors include viaducts in the following stations, corridor-1 at Ashok Nagar / KK Nagar, SIDCO station and corridor-2 at Little Mount, Guindy, Alandur and OTA station.

Consulting Services provided for the project include:

  • Preparation of design basis / planning criteria.
  • Detailed design of substructure and superstructure (precast segmental box girder).
  • Issue of Good for Construction drawings.
  • Design support during construction
