Pre-feasibility of MRTS Connecting Nagpur City with MIHAN and Butibori Industrial Area

Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), National Institute of Technology (NIT) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) are considering the development of MRTS connecting Nagpur City with MIHAN and Butibori Industrial Areas. The project is proposed to be implemented by floating a SPV comprising of MADC, NMC, NIT and MIDC with MADC playing the lead role.

Ministry of Civil Aviation have in principle decided to transfer Nagpur Airport to MADC.SEZ which is part of MIHAN is notified for 2086 hectares, in which 1472 hectares and 614 ha of land is allotted to processing and non-processing zone respectively. According to MADC by 2015, SEZ would create 1.25 lakhs direct jobs, this would in turn generate additional 2.5 lakhs in direct jobs.

The main objective of this study is to prepare a pre-feasibility report for MRTS corridors using the database generated from “Techno-Economic Feasibility Study for MRTS” and “Master Plan/Perspective Plan for Transportation System of Nagpur for the year 2031” studies done earlier.
