Project Year: 2012

Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system in two phases. Phase I of the project consists of 2 corridors covering a total length of 45.1 km with 32 stations (2 Interchange stations). About 55% of the corridor in Phase I is underground and the remaining is elevated. The objective of the study is to identify all the available options for enhancing the ridership of Metro including the spatial options of increased FSI along the Metro Corridors and Transit Oriented Development (TOD) at the transit stations and to recommend the implementations of these measures on priority commensurate with the quantum of enhanced ridership.
